Thinking ofGoing Google Apps? Ask the Smart Questions eBook Frank Bennett Dr Peter Chadha Reviews
This book is both easy to read and easy to understand The language is both clear and jargon free and the book takes you step by step without confusion.I have been involved in running Telecoms and IT companies for many years and I would recommend this book to anyone contemplating the move to Google
Great read if you are interested in moving your IT to google apps in the cloud. It's written for a businesses (and nonprofits) audience and really help to understand the concepts without getting into the technical jargon so that you can make a sound evaluation.
The title for this book is what garnered my attention. As a person who relies on the Internet for a major part of my work I am always on the lookout for books that teach me how to master software that I currently use or am thinking about you. I am a Google fan,so I wanted to see if this book would help me learn a little more about Google Apps. I had heard about and used it a couple of times, but never really mastered it.
"Thinking of.....Going Google Apps? Ask the Smart Questions" is designed for self-described "non-technical" people (specifically business owners and managers) who are trying to determine if "going Google Apps" would work for them and their business. It details questions that users should ask and demonstrates how Google Apps answers those questions. Basically, if you are not using Google Apps and are considering it in the least, this book might be for you.
Overall, the book does a decent job of making the case for Google Apps as an inexpensive, user-friendly, and time-saving software that any business owner or professional would love to use.(If you don't already love everything Google makes!). It does this in an way that is less complex than I expected to be. A lot of books I have read about Google tend to be overly complicated, but this one wasn't. It starts off with a brief overview of the changing world of work and how cloud technology is a major part of that change. Later chapters detail Google Apps and how it can save you (and your business) time, money, and energy. The only negative side is that is does not dig far enough into how to use Google Apps. If the authors are making the case that Google Apps is the one of the best things ever, they should have went into a little more detail into showing how Google Apps is better. They provided the why now they need just to work on the how...
Do you own, or are you involved in, a business that is considering the use of the Google Apps to as a step up onto the cloud to help your business succeed? Do you want to change from systems like a file servers and Microsoft Office? Confused?
This book could be what you need. "Thinking of Going Google Apps?" isn't a technical manual full of jargon - neither is it a user manual, it won't tell you all the answers. What this book will do is pose your questions, and more that you hadn't thought of, and offer discussions and informative opinion that will help you think your way through the decisions you need to make from a business management point of view.
The skill is in the questions - they will make you think, and that will help to guide you.
Thinking of Going Google Apps is written in plain, easily accessible, plain English and is easily understood, even to the non-technical of us. I'm reasonably tech literate and found this easy to read, and easy to dip into and to find what I needed.
This book illustrates the wide range of the overall Google service, which includes cheap telephone calls, video conferencing facilities and the potential for free websites.
I bought this book from UK - so this is a verified review.
Wonderful quick read with detailed review of why a business should consider moving its IT to google apps in the cloud. All businesses, including nonprofits can lower their Capital expenditures on IT
